239 – Morgan Rose on Sevendust’s past, present and future

Morgan Rose has been the drummer for Sevendust, a band he, bassist Vince Hornsby, and guitarist John Connolly formed in 1994 before adding lead vocalist Lajon Witherspoon and guitarist Clint Lowery. Still going strong, Morgan and Sevendust have strung together a career spanning more than 20 years, millions of records sold and sold out tours around the world. Impressive to say the least, what I was even more impressed with is Morgan’s gratitude and humility towards his career. You know the type of person who, after talking to them for two minutes, you know they’re a good person? Morgan is one of those people.

Morgan Rose talks about:

  • Growing up in New Jersey
  • Getting into drumming
  • His love for baseball
  • “Going for it” in California
  • His first LA friend, John Frusciante
  • “Failing out of California” as he called it
  • Learning from your mistakes
  • How Sevendust got signed (crazy story)
  • Gratitude and humility
  • Much more

I’m thrilled to announce that DW has signed on to support Drummer’s Reosource for 2016! Be sure to check them out today and DWDrums.com.

Drums, ETC: Hands down my favorite drum shop, located in Lancaster, PA. The great thing about Drums, etc is you don’t have to be in Pennsylvania to shop with them. With their online store and order by phone (1-800-922-DRUM) they’re accessible nationwide. I cannot recommend these guys enough…they offer awesome, personalized service, a wide selection (and if they don’t have it, they can get it) and you can call them to answer any questions you may have.
