560 – Leroy Clouden: Taking advantage of opportunities

Leroy Clouden was destined for success in music, but it wasn’t handed to him by any means. Born and bread in NYC, Clouden took advantage of every opportunity that was available to him. From Jazz band in school to public music programs, he was like a sponge and played whenever, wherever. That dedication and preparation combined and lead to recording and/or touring work with Steely Dan, The B52s, and Marc Anthony.

Leroy Clouden talks about:

  • Wanting to play drums from a young age
  • How opportunities in high school helped him figure out what kind of drummer he wanted to be
  • Learning that he could pursue musical success independently, through freelancing or auditions
  • The value of perseverance and being open to learning from others
  • The qualities and types of music that attract him
  • How self-confidence leads to more big picture opportunities
