484 – Jerome Flood II: Ignore the naysayers

Jerome Flood II is all about defying the odds. Born in Rochester, NY and a product of the church environment, Flood knew he wanted to expand his horizons and build a career in music outside of his small town. With sheer determination and hard work he went on to win the Guitar Center Drumoff, and build a resume of artists like Musiq Soulchild, Ricardo Sanchez, Pastor Troy, Canton Jones, Travis Barker, R.L., August Alsina and Flatbush Zombies. Plus, he’s hard at work building his own, original band Flood Geight.

In this podcast you’ll hear Jerome Flood II talk about:

  • Getting into drums at a very young age in Rochester
  • How he put together his Drum-Off winning routine
  • Knowing when to use chops and when not to
  • Identifying whether you’re playing the right thing or not
  • How he chooses what to practice
  • Differences between being a hired gun and leading his own project
  • His classic Instagram voiceover videos
  • Much more
