585 – Daniel Platzman (Imagine Dragons) Connecting the Puzzle Pieces

Imagine Dragons sell out stadiums all over the world. But for Daniel Platzman, whether he’s playing front of 100 or 100,000, it’s all the same. The music always comes first. Born into a family of chamber musicians, Daniel’s love for music started at a young age and has continued to flourish ever since. From middle school to college at Berklee and beyond, Daniel has sought out opportunities to write, perform, and even score for TV and movies, each providing a chance to do what Daniel loves best – problem solve. He views every musical situation as a puzzle or problem that needs to be solved with the correct instrumentation, dynamics, timbre, mood, feel, etc, all resulting in music for others to enjoy.

Daniel Platzman talks about:

  • Growing up with the musical influences from his family and learning violin and piano at a young age
  • What drew him to playing the drums
  • What he’d be interested in doing with music if he wasn’t performing
  • His time at Berklee and what he learned there
  • Adjusting to the fame and success of being in Imagine Dragons
  • How he stays humble
  • What he’s working on now
