626 – Ben Wysocki (The Fray): Mile High Music Man

Since the tender age of 2 when his parents bought him a toy drumset so he’d stop beating on furniture, Ben Wysocki has been a drummer. That love for playing lead to him joining many local bands in the Denver, CO area until he eventually joined the Fray in 2004. In the mid 2000s, you couldn’t turn on the radio without hearing Ben’s musicality-focused drumming on a slew of the Fray’s hits. He’s taken that same approach as he leans into a new chapter of his career, as record producer. In a collaborative studio environment is where Ben thrives, a strength it took him a little while to realize but has served him well over the years.

Ben Wysocki talks about:

  • What he thinks it takes to qualify a record as “great”
  • The musical influences that came from his family
  • Aspects he loves about producing
  • Getting started with drums by playing in church
  • His idols and the lessons he learned from them
