636 – Ben Atkind (Goose): Taking Flight

You could say that Ben Atkind was developing the tools to play in Goose his entire career, even though playing in a Jam Band was never on his radar. The piano player turned drummer has dedicated his life to learning the traditions of the instrument, studying Jazz (and everything else) at Berklee and relying heavily on hours in the shed to separate himself from the pack. It wasn’t until he started a band (Goose) with some friends did his musical interest begin to expand into the Jam Band scence, a scene that Goose is primed to catapult to the top of in due time.

Ben Atkind talks about:

  • Picking up drums at 8 years old
  • His time at Berklee
  • The strategies that led to success with his band, Goose
  • Some of the best lessons he’s learned from drum teachers
  • His drumming influences
  • How 2020 and the pandemic has effected the band growth
  • Upcoming tour and plans
