Normally I get to chat with one amazing musician on the podcast, but this week I was lucky to have a wide-ranging conversation with two of them: Ari Hoenig and Vivienne Aerts. Ari, the world-renowned Jazz drummer, and bandleader is making his second appearance on the podcast alongside his Patreon co-pilot Vivienne, who’s a well-respected musician in her own right. Originally from the Netherlands, vocalist, and songstress, Vivienne Aerts is barely categorizable in genre or style. She plays in band formation, duo, solo, supplemented with synthesizer, loop station, and effects.
