575 – Allen Aucoin (Disco Biscuits): Always Evolving

Allen Aucoin has been in the Disco Biscuits since 2005, but it was seemingly in the works for much longer than that. After multiple members of his former band’s crew began migrating over the Disco Biscuits camp, Aucoin eventually landed the gig himself and the rest is history.

Allen is about as well-rounded as they come with a career that started in education and composition, including instructing and writing for award-winning percussion ensembles and teaching drum lessons. From there he went on to work with his band Skydog Gypsy and DrFameus, his electronic music project that explores many realms with DrFameus ranging from breakbeats to drum ‘n’ bass to dubstep to techno/house.

Whether it’s with The Disco Biscuits, DrFameus or figuring out new ways to stream music online with Twitch, Allen is forever exploring what’s possible and consistently evolving as musician operating in the modern era.

Allen Aucoin talks about:

  • How moving around with a military family prepared him for touring life
  • The musical influences of his years at Berkley
  • How he got the gig with The Disco Biscuits
  • Fan response to him joining an established band
  • The skills and side gigs he’s picked up to stay busy during COVID-19
