072 – Moving to a New City (Part 1)

It’s no surprise that if you want to make a career in the music business it would serve you best to move to one of the top 4 United States music cities like Los Angeles, New York City, Nashville, or Austin or London of you’re thinking about Europe.  There are many things to think about before moving to a new city but what I found to be most important is the preparation before embarking on your journey.  Far too often I hear stories of great musicians who move from their hometown to a new city and end up coming home in a  few short months because they were not prepared for the journey. Whether it be money, unexpected expenses, lack of “connections”, or one of the other 1,000 things that can get in the way of success, it’s best to have a good plan to help you get through these hiccups.

In this podcast (part 1) I talk about what you should be thinking about BEFORE you make the move to a new city. Thinking back on the move that I made from the Philadelphia suburbs to New York City, there are a few things that I wish that I had done before I left.  There were many things that I didn’t consider. Luckily I was able to adapt quickly and didn’t have to leave New York, but I’m giving you the heads up so that you don’t make the same mistakes that I made.

Enjoy!
