063 – Jeff “Houseman” Clemens (G. Love and Special Sauce): Dare to be Different

In this podcast I talked to drummer Jeff Houseman Clemens best known for his 21+ years as the drummer for G.Love and the Special Sauce.  Jeff Clemens, who has a style all of his own, is instantly recognizable on G. Love’s 12 studio records with his linear, New Orleans styled approach.  Over the course of a 21+ year career as the drummer for G. Love , Jeff Clemens has toured the country and world countless times, also boating a resume of albums peaking at top 200 and top 100 positions on the US Billbaord charts.  Although the band has always maintained relatively modest commercial success, their “underground following”, as Clemens reluctantly refers to it, has been the lifeblood of their success, allowing them to sell out venues all over the country with relative ease.

“Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, the lesson afterward.” – Vernon Law (Tweet this)
